Southington Township -- 1840 census

Just in case knowing this might save you pulling your hair because you can't find someone you *know* must be in Southington Township in the 1840 census...

For reasons unknown, the major census indices do not include records of Southington Township in Trumbull Co., OH. This is true of the AIS index, the Broderbund Census Index CD, and the online indices at GenealogyLibrary.com and Ancestry.com. The Southington County pages exist, they're just not indexed.

I notice at the USGenWeb Census Project that a kind sole has volunteered to extract the 1840 Trumbull County census, so we can look forward to a complete index of the county being available, apparently for the first time.

Good hunting.
