Western Reserve: Duck Creek Settlement, 1808: Jacob settled c1808, Newton Falls, Trumbull Co., OH, which was known as the Western Reserve. The Duck Creek settlement consisted of Thomas Reed, Peter Decoursey, Alexander Sutherland, and his father, John, George Sheffleton, John Mashman and son, Alexander Mashman, Jacob Custard.

Special Court of Common Pleas sitting at Canfield, Trumbull Co., OH, Pg. 278, 285) , 21 Oct 1811, At a Special Court of Common Pleas sitting at Canfield, Trumbull Co., OH, 21 Oct 1811, Robert Hughes, Ephraim Quinby, and Herman Canfield, Esquires holding said Court, were present. The estate of Zebina Wetherbee, late of Warren, Trumbull Co., OH., was presented (Pg. 262-363). The widow declined to take Letters of Administration on the estate, but moved the Court to appoint her brother, Francis Freeman, administrator. Her letter to the Court was dated at Warren 21 October 1811 and signed Fannt Wetherbee. An Invoice (Pg. 278, 285) of noted, judgements and book accounts in favor of Zebina Weatherbee, deceased was received and recorded. Jacob Custard's name is on this list.
