Hello JC. Many thanks for you response, however I have very different information than yours regarding James BROWN and Rebecca LLOYD ALEXANDER BROWN and children. Also, please see my first posting for my questions regarding this family.

Rebecca LLOYD (My Gx3 Grandmother) m. Phillip ALEXANDER May 2/5, 1843 OH(not sure of exact day, but I have a copy of their Marriage certificate)

Their children were:

House by visit 1115
Families by visit 1147
Rebecca 29 f. VA
i.E.A. (Elizabeth A.)ALEXANDER 7 f. OH
ii. Car (Calvin C.) ALEXANDER 5 (have death certificate showing Phillip and Rebecca LLOYD ALEXANDER as his parents
iii. M. J. (Mary Jane, in 1866 m. Smith BUTLER, Wayne Co.)
iv. John ( John does not appear on the 1860 Census)

Phillip ALEXANDER d. 1856 Wayne Co. IL

Rebecca LLOYD ALEXANDER m. James BROWN Feb. 15, 1859, marriage performed by W.W. GEORGE (WAYNE COUNTY NEWSPAPER GLEANINGS 1855-1875)

Dwelling 254 Family 238

BROWN James 38 M OH
Rebecca 39 F VA
i. Elizabeth A. 17 F OH
ii. Calvin 16 M OH
iii.Mary J. 13 F OH
iv. Elmira 8 F IL (this is my Gx2 Grandmother b. 1852. She later m. Asa HAYNES POTTER b. 1849 Wayne Co. IL)
v. Horace 7m M IL

In the 1870 Census my Gx2 Grandmother Elmira ALEXANDER is living with her Uncle Nicholas C. and Aunt Jane Cecelia AUSTIN ALEXANDER.

In 1870 in the household of Peter BEEMER, husband of Elizabeth LLOYD BEEMER (My Gx2 Aunt, sister to Gma. Rebecca) there are two additional childen living with them and their family.
i. Horace BROWN age 10 b. IL
ii. Hulda BROWN age 4 b. IL (Hulda doesn't show up after this.)

Also, I show a "possible" father of James BROWN above as being John BROWN (BRAUN) b. 1782 poss. in Germany d. 9.18/1866 at the age of 84. He was buried in Buckeye Cemetery (near where the family first settled). He m. Sophia (KOONTZ)BROWN and had the following children.

i. Samuel B. 1817 PA
ii Saul (no info.)
iii. James b. ca. 1820 d. 8/28/1895 at the age of 75. m. Sadie (Petty) MORELAND on Nov. 11, 1869. They had one son Grant b. Oct. 14, 1870. James BROWN appears in the 1880 Census with a wife "Martha", son Ulysses G. BROWN and others including a stepdaughter Mattie MORELAND. (Don't know the history here)

I also have the enlistment papers of James BROWN, prob. the same as above, enlisted 1862 states he is a widower. Served in Co. G. 56 IL V.I. buried Buckeye Cemetery Wayne Co. IL. d. 1895.

iv. Peter b. abt. 1823
v. Ruth b. 1823
vi. William b. 5/31/1829
vii. Emanual b. 1/27/1830 Stark Co. OH
viii. John Jr. b. abt. 1835 OH
ix. Joseph b. abt. 1836 OH
x. Ann b. abt 1837 OH
xi. Thomas b. 12/25/1838 Wayne Co. OH

Unfortunately I have lost contact with the doner of the paper giving the above info., but it looks as though it is a History? of a State?

I would very much appreciate your straightening out the lineage of the BROWNs and my ALEXANDERs on your website.

Again many thanks for your response. I appreciate it.
