Lookup Request 1820 & 1830 Stark Census - Swigart
Posted by: Michael Swigart (ID *****6535) Date: April 22, 2002 at 20:26:37

I am stumped and hope someone has the earliest census records for lookup. My ancestor John Swigart came to Stark Co in 1806. The only Swigart on the 1810 tax list is John Swigert in Plain Twp who I presume is my John Swigart.

Can you look up the 1820 & 1830 Census and let me know what is listed for John Swigart's household. Or make copies of those pages? Or refer me to someone who is doing lookups for the earliest census'.

I will of course reimburse out of pocket costs for anyone.

John Swigart (surname spelled in all possible variations)

1810 tax list: John Swigert, Plain Twp, Stark Co (Plain Twp was in New became North Canton during WWI).
J Swigert, 1816 tax list, no Twp listed, Stark Co.

1820 Ohio Census lists:
John Swigart, Stark
Jacob Swygart, Stark
John Swichart, Stark
Abraham Swygert, Stark
Jacob Swygert, Stark

John died in 1828, I presume that one of the two ladies below is his widow.

1830 Ohio Census
Margaret Swigert, Stark
Mary Swigard, Stark
Catherine Swigard, Stark
Jacob Swigard, Stark
George Swigart,Franklin, Stark
Jesse Swigart, Stark
Abraham Swigert, Stark
Michael Swigert, Stark
Swigart is such an unusual name I suppose that all the people listed above are related (sons, brothers, cousins etc). Data on them could be valuable to me in finding out clues. I f you can please do all but my focus is on John and his widow and what information they have on their household, origins, parents names and origin, children, occupation etc.

Thanks very much in advance for your courtesy and assistance.

Regards to you, Michael Swigart
