William HOOVER Stark>Crawford Co., Ohio
Posted by: Hoover Date: February 19, 2002 at 13:09:46
  of 1205

Sometime between 1813 and 1820 a William HOOVER (b. 1780-1790) moves with his family from somewhere in Pennsylvania to Stark county, Ohio. This family would be presumed to include (sons?) William (born 1806) and Samuel (born 1813). Or, this William and Samuel could be the children of a deceased brother. It is possible that William (1780-90) has a brother named Jacob who moves to Huron county, Ohio about the same time. This Jacob moves to Cranberry township, Crawford county Ohio about the same time as his possible brother, William.

About 1820, William (1780-90) possibly has a son, Henry HOOVER who will eventually move from Crawford to Delaware county, Ohio. Henry will wed a Mahala (?) and then move onto Paulding county, Ohio by 1850.

On April 7th, 1829 a William HOOVER of Stark county, Ohio patented 160 acres in Crawford county Ohio at the Wooster Land Office in Antrim township.

On Janurary 4th, 1831 a William HOOVER of Stark county, Ohio, patents 80 acres in Crawford County, Ohio at the Wooster Land Office. This is in Antrim Township, section 8.

In 1840, A William (1780-90) and A William (1800-10) appear on the Crawford county, census. A younger couple shown with the older William in Antrim Twp. is possibly Henry HOOVER and his wife Mahala. The younger William in Cranberry Twp., is very likely William Hoover (b. 1806) and his wife Mary SELFIEST (SILVEES, SILFIES, SILVIUS).

From what I have been able to find, I don't think this is the William HOOVER descendant of Adam HUBER, although the dates seem to fit.

Any clues out there?
