HI:
I have a John W. Stansbery, born July 26, 1842 in Tuscarawas county, Ohio. He married Ellen Borroway, born May 3, 1849 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. They were my Great Grandparents. They died in Canton, Ohio. His father was Christian Stanbarger, who was married to Susan Fashbaugh. The name was changed during the civil war. I have seen his applicarion for pension which indicates that name on his pension application was "John W. Stansbery aka John W. Stanbarger. There has been a family oral tradition that the name was changed during the civil war. My grandfather, Jacob, was one of the seven children. Does this help you out?
Ralph
