Our Mapes family's must be related since they are both from Shelby Co. OH. I have Christian Mapes b 5,14,1828, married Mary Fairchild b Jan 28, 1831. Their 7 children I have as follows: Emma (Emily) b Feb.10, 1854 (my g-grandmother), Jane b.Sept. 8, 1856, Nancy b Sept. 11, 1857, George b Oct. 30, 1859, William b May 4, 1863, John b July 19, 1865, Leroy b Aug. 28, 1868. Perhaps Christian and your Robert were brothers. Let me know if there is a connection. Emma m. my g-grandfather, William Wittig, also from Shelby Co. They became quakers and eventually moved to Daviess Co. I have read about a large migration of Quakers to that area of Ohio.I don't know if any of the parents were Quakers in this migration. Janice
