Me, again. I think I might have found something that looks like the same people you are looking for. There was a message posted on ancestry.com. If you would be comfortable sending me your email address, I would send it directly to you. My email address is:

Also I found the following in census records for 1870, Jackson County, Ohio, Lick township:

McManis, William age 38
Susan age 36 wife
Joseph F. age 13 son
William H. age 10 son
Thomas V. age 9 son (age could be 7)
Samuel age 5

I tried looking in Scioto County for 1880 but didn't find anything but there were a number of people with the spelliing "McManes". But the first names didn't really fit. But that doesn't mean they weren't in Scioto County. The indexes are not always complete. Sometimes I have had to go thru the census records page by page.
