The 1860 Ballville, Sandusky County, Census has the following family:
Adam Shire, 47, born in Baden (Germany)
Caroline Shire, 32
Adam Shire, 13
Peter Shire, 10
Domia (?) Shire, 7
John Shire, 4
George Shire, 1
The Ancestry.com site translates the surname as "Sheer" but I read it as "Shire." The name could be spelled any which way: Scheuer, Scheur, Shier, Scherer, Sherer, etc.
Who were these people? Were they related to Philip Shier/Shire who married Lydia Myers, also of Ballville? Lydia was a daughter of Henry and Eunice Myers.
Any clues or leads appreciated.
