Fullerton Rifles - Co B, 26th OVI, out of Chillicothe
Posted by: Dave Rader (ID *****1647) Date: August 22, 2002 at 16:31:37
  of 1613

I'm doing a research project (boy, besides my own genealogy - why do I need another research project! - but it is preliminary work on my master's thesis) on my gr-gr-grandfather's company in the Civil War. There are far too many surnames to list in the subject line - sorry! But I have listed the soldiers below. Please take a look - if you recognize any of them as being in your family, I would love to hear from you. For some, I've been able to find
quite a good bit of information on, but others elude me. Most of those listed as "killed" were killed at the Battle of Chickamauga, Sept 1863.
I'm also looking for a reason why this unit was called the Fullerton Rifles - I know that there were several prominent Fullertons in the area at the time, but can find no real connection to this company (and it WAS just this company that was called the Fullerton Rifles, NOT the entire 26th Regiment).
Thanks,
Jan Rader
