I am looking for information about a Charles Richard Stevens born in Lick Skillet, (Ross County) Ohio on August 18, 1909. He has a son (living) named Steven B. Stevens. Charles Richard was supposedly the illegitimate son of a Charles Edward Stevens, born to Amos Stevens and Mary Jane Knece Stevens on February 2, 1883, in or near Laurelville in Hocking County, Ohio. Charles Edward died on March 21, 1928, at the home of his brother in Columbus, Ohio. We believe that Charles Richard's mother's first name was Nan. There is no record of Charles Richard's birth in Ross or Hocking Counties. However, even though birth were supposed to be reported in 1908, we have been told that it would not be unusual for a mother, at that time, to not record an illegitimate birth. We need to verify that Charles Richard Stevens is indeed the son of Charles Edward Stevens. Members of both Charles' families would like to know if they are indeed related. Thank you.
