Dawn, I suspect that Charles Carroll that you are seeking is from the same line of Carrolls that were kin to Daniel Boone Carroll b. 1796 in NC and son of Luke Carroll of VA...

Beyond that I can provide no other guesses...But the Carrolls and Wilburns and Underwoods were allied families in eastern Ky and some of these very families relocated to southern OH..right across the Ohio River...Most folks were still marrying into allied families if they lived in rurual communiies and I suspect that La Veta Co was indeed a rurual community during that era...

I would suggest that you might wish to post something in Carter KY genforum...but would be surprised if you came up with anything ...but my hunch is this is where your roots are...circa 1850...
