I am looking for any family connections to the WILSON or CLARKSON surnames.
The WILSON and CLARKSON families have connections to Butler County Ohio (1833), Franklin County Indiana (1834), Boone County Indiana (1833-1856), Madison County Iowa (1856-1870), and Saunders (1870), Furnas (1885), and Lancaster Counties in Nebraska.
David WILSON, born in Ohio** about 1810 possibly in Chillicothe, Ross County Ohio, applied for a land grant in Boone County Indiana on May 1, 1833 at the Crawfordsville Office, David stated he was from Butler County Ohio on the land record. On August 12, 1834 he had traveled down to Franklin County Indiana to marry Emily CLARKSON, born about 1810 in Virginia, . Both would have been 24 years old upon marriage so either could have been married before (there is no proof of this, however there is no proof that Emily Clarkson was a relative of any of the Clarkson’s in Franklin County in 1834 either, she could have been a Clarkson wife, or a child taken in by family.) The Clarkson’s in Franklin County at the time seemed to be a prominent family and there are many references to the males in that line.

David Wilson and Emily Clarkson Wilson had four children born in Boone County Indiana:
1) Mary Jane Wilson born about 1835 married Martin D. SWAFFORD in Madison County Iowa in 1856, this was SWAFFORD‘s second marriage is first wife SULGROVE had died. **Mary J. WILSON SWAFFORD‘s obit mistakenly states she was born in Chillicothe, Ross County Ohio.
2) William C. Wilson born 1838 married Sarah ROBINSON in Nebraska in 1868.
3) John P. Wilson, born 1842, died 1852 buried in the Old Thorntown Cemetery, Boone County Indiana.
4) Juliette W. Wilson born about 1845 may have married 1) Unknown JAYNE and 2) Emory CLOSSON, the CLOSSEN marriage is very likely, however the JAYNE marriage is questionable. I do not have documentation for either. Both marriages would probably have taken place in Nebraska.

It appears the entire family migrated from Boone County Indiana to Madison County Iowa sometime between 1852 and 1856, then onto Nebraska between 1863 and 1870. David Wilson died in Madison County Iowa in 1863.

NOTE; Also on the May 1, 1833 a James Wilson applied for two land grants in Boone County Indiana at the Crawfordsville Office, James states he is from Montgomery County Ohio. One month later on June 8, 1833 John H. Wilson applied for a land grant at the same office, John H. states he is from Putnam County Indiana. There is a good possibility that James Wilson and David Wilson are related to each other, both may even be related to John H Wilson. The next land grant for a Wilson in Boone County was not filed for another 16 months.
