My maternal grandmother was Hazel Mae Beal, born May 18, 1893 in Bellville, Richland County, Ohio. Her father was Amos Emanuel Beal, born May 16, 1863 and died December 28, 1933. Amos married Rosa Rebecca Leedy on April 17, 1893. Amos's father was Jacob Beal, born abt. 1836 in Richland County, Ohio. Jacob died in battle, September 24, 1864 outside Athens, Alabama as a Corporal in Co. E. 102nd Reg., OVI. Jacob married Christina Lett on June 12, 1856. Jacob's father was Daniel Beal, born abt. 1807, in Germany and died abt. April 1, 1852 in Richland County, Ohio. Jacob's mother was Anna Garber, born abt. 1809, died abt. 1848 in Richland County, Ohio. I am searching for information on them and their ancestors (Beal, Leedy, Garber, etc). The name Beal was probably Biehl before Daniel's generation in Germany.
