George W. Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson
Posted by: Stephen S. Felton Date: January 26, 2001 at 16:55:30
  of 1623

Looking for information on the ancestry of George W. Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson. He is listed in the 1818 Preble County tax duplicates for the first time as owning 84 acres in Section 1 of Somers Twp. He is listed in the 1820, 1830, and 1840 Preble County censuses. It is not known when or where either was born or marriage information.

They had one known son, Jefferson (1811-1877), who married Nancy H. Pierson on March 6, 1834 in Preble County. It is believed that they may have lived in the Indiana territory prior to moving to Preble County since son Jefferson was born there.

George Wilson helped in founding and building the Methodist Church in Camden. On May 31, 1817, he and three other men were given land by James Moore, Sr and his wife near the old cemetery to build the church.

She died on May 29, 1855 at the age of 70 and is buried at the Kirven-Pottenger Cemetery in Somers twp. He died in the late 1840's and is also probably buried there. I have not been able to find her 1850 Census record which would give a clue to where she was born.

Any help would be appreciated.
