Charles provided an obituary for "Christina Johnson Widlund was born Jan. 12, 1853, in Jonkoping Smaland, Sweden."

I found her emigrating from Sweden.

Emibas CD:

Emibas was made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country. It is about 75% complete.

Johnson is an Americanization of Johannisdotter, which literally means daughter of Johannis. This provides the parish where she was born and which she emigrated from. This is important because Swedish genealogical records are kept in the parish.

Johannisdotter, Kristina
Piga = female farm worker. (unmarried woman)

b. 1/12/1853 in Ödestugu, Jönköpings län (Småland)

Emigrated 5/20/1871
from Slätteryd, Ödestugu, Jönköpings län (Småland)

Emibas migration file ID: Ödestugu F 1871 005

Swedish parish records are online, for a fee. There are three services to find her parents. I used Genline. (subscription)

1151.5.51500, [Jönköping] Ödestugu, C.3, Births, 1807 - 1856, 0-340, Image 176 of 183

Christina was born 12 January and baptised 16 January 1853 in Ödestugu parish in Jönköping county in Småland province. Her parents were the tenant farmer Johannes Isacsson and Carolina Petersdotter who lived at Hagen und. (under, meaning on the property of) Tholarp in that parish. The mother was 19 years old. Baptism witnesses were also listed.

I am not related.
