I'm searching for more information about the Melling/Horsman families in Preble County in the 1800s. My ancestor is Eleanor (Ellen) Melling, b. ca 1818 and m. 1840 to Wesley Smith. They lived in Preble County in 1840 and 1850, but moved to Jasper County, MO, by 1860. Wesley must have died by 1870, because we see Eleanor (Ellen) living with her daughter, Eliza Razer, in Polk County in that census.

Records in Preble County indicate a close relationship with the Horsman/Harshman family. I believe one of Eleanor's sisters, Mary (Polly), was married to a Horsman.

Any information welcome.
