Alexander Harper located, temporarily, on the Pickaway plains in 1798 and there raised a crop. In 1800 he removed to the north part of Buckskin township,Ross Co. and settled on six hundred acres of land on Survey No. 2,291. He raised a family of nine children.
James and Robert, brothers of Alexander Harper, settled on the same survey a year or two later, and Alexander and Robert died there in 1843.
