You will find Samuel and his brother Thomas listed in the History of Butler County serving in the War of 1812. Samuel's father died in Bedford County Pennsylvania in 1807 and Samuel's mother along with many of her children go with other family members to Ohio in Nov 1808 according to the history of the Tonoloway Baptist Church. You will find Samuel listed in the early census records but since he dies Nov 1837 and was buried in Friendship Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio and Rebecca died about 1830 and was buried in Friendship Cemetery, Preble County, Ohio. You will not find any indication of his occupation. Also you will find estate records and guardianship papers on several of his youngest children. My husband's family decend from this line. Please note that on his line, the name remains Stephen until about 1905 when they started to put the "S" on the end.
I hope this will help.
