Thank you very much for the information. No wonder I couldn't find him, he was never listed as the head of the household. I guess the census is only indexed by head of household. I suspect he was also widowed in 1900, even though the census says he was single.

I was looking for him with his family. I would like to verify his children. I thought it was unusual that his children are not listed with him, except for his son Ernest whose household he moved into in his old age. Wonder where his children are--who was taking care of them? My kids are descended from his daughter Elizabeth.

Are you related to Peter? Do you know where he lived in Indiana when Ernest was born? I would be happy to exchange information.
