Seeking women with Union soldier ancestor or uncle

The Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic (LGAR) is the oldest women's hereditary society in the U.S.--even older than D.A.R.! Women age 10 or older who have either (A) a direct, blood-related ancestor who fought solely for the Union or (B)a direct ancestor whose brother fought soley for the Union may join.

The cost of joining is a one-time application fee of $10 plus annual dues (which is usually about $20 a year).

The Ohio Department LGAR is currently working to organize a new chapter in Pike County. It takes 10 women to form one. Free genealogical assistance will be given anyone wishing to join. Contact me for an application at 34465 Crew Road, Pomeroy, OH 45769 or calling 740-992-7874. I do respond to e-mail requests, but my response will not be immediate.
