Benjamin Davis [1777-1863]was b in MD. Migrated to Pickaway Co. abt 1802. Before 1850 Benjamin moved to White Co., ON where he d. Benjamin's son, John Davis [1807-1894] m. Elizabeth Crabb[1813-1882]29 Mar 1831. Benjamin is thought to be a brother of Abel Davis [1765-1847] who settled in White Co., IN 1835. John & Elizabeth had 11 children. Martha, b. 1834; William, b. 14 Nov 1836; Joseph, b. 1839; Isaac, b. 1841; David, b.1842; John, b. 1844; Thomas, b. 1845; Fletcher, b. 1846; Mary A, b. 1849; Amanda, b 1851 and Millard F. Davis, b. 1857.
Following Elizabeth's death John m. Hester (Wilson) Matlock 17 Sep 1882.
Benjamin had 3 wives including his last, Maria Burget, who was the widow of Henry Burget. Benjamin & Maria are found in the 1850 census of White Co., IN with Eliza Davis, b.1842; Malisia Davis, b. 1844; Emily Burget, b. 1833; Rachel Burget, b. 1836; and William Burget, b. 1838. Malisia Davis m. Joshua Lindsey 12 Jul 1860. By 1870, Joshua & Elizabeth Lindsey were living in Greenwood Co., KS with her mother, Maria DAvis.
