The following is a transcription of an old obituary that was found in an old book. It has no date & no name of the newspaper. This was scanned & sent to me & I have no other knowledge of this family.
In the death of Mrs. William Famuelener, which occurred Friday night at her home seven miles south of Knoxville, Knox County loses another old settler, and the ranks of the pioneers are growing less each year. The deceased came to Knox County from Ohio in 1854 and settled with her family in the old Famuelener homestead, where she died.
Mrs. Famuelener died that night at 12 o’clock, after an illness of only a few weeks. Stomach trouble was the cause of her death, and her advanced age allowed insufficient strength for a second attack of the disease. Ann Brunidge was born near Circleville, Ohio, October 1, 1825, and lived there until she grew to be a woman. In ’52 she was married to William Famuelener, and two years later moved to Illinois and Knox County.
She leaves a husband, four sons, two daughters and nine grandchildren. The sons, Chauncey, James and John, live near the old home and George is a resident of Abingdon. Of the two daughters, Martha Famuelener lives at home, and Mrs. Chester Graham lives near Cameron. The funeral was held at the house Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock, and the remains were buried in the cemetery a half mile south of the home. The services were in charge of Rev. Frank Smith, of __ingdon. (probably Abingdon).
