I am looking for information about the family of Joseph (b. 1812) and Nancy (b. 1815) BOWERS who were residing in Newton, Jasper County Illinois in 1850. They had children Sarah, Christian, Elizabeth, Barbara, Elijah and Thomas. I believe that this is the same Joseph BOWERS family that resided in Picaway Co. Ohio in 1840. Joseph must have died before 1857, as Nancy married Moses STRONG that year, in Jasper Co., IL. She is listed in the 1860 census (Jasper Co., IL) as Nancy STRONG with children Rachel, William, Charolotte, and Barbara (children are listed with surname STRONG), but no husband Moses.
In 1870 (Jasper Co., IL), Nancy is listed as Nancy BOWERS again, with children Charles, Rachel, William, and Lottie.
In 1880 (Jasper Co., IL), Nancy STRONG is agd 70, and son William resides with her.
I suspect that Nancy BOWERS STRONG may be a SHARRICK, daughter of Christian and Barbara SHARRICK who resided next door to the BOWERS in 1840 in Picaway Co. Ohio, and who were also in Jasper Co., IL in the 1850 census.
Does anyone have any information about any one listed above?
