MILTON JONES DEAD AT 77

Priminent Local Man Former Blacksmith, Victim of Lingering Illness
--
       Milton Evans Jones, aged 77, more generally known as Daddy Jones or Milty, died at his resident, 327 E. Union street, this city, Saturday at 9 p.m., after a lingering illness and failing health. For many years he conducted the blacksmith shop between Main street and the river bridge, and was an expert smithy.
       He was the son of Jesse and Sallie Gunn Jones and was born in Clarksburg, Ross County, July 15, 1852. He was united in marriage to Melissa Shuster, January 12, 1881, and to this union were born six children, and is survived by his wife and the following children; Mrs. Nellie C. Smith, Columbus; Finley of Circleville; Cary of Columbus; Clark of Fremont, and Russell of Circleville, and seven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Valeria Huddle, a daughter died in 1921.
       Early in life he became a member of the Christian Church at Clarksburg, Ohio
       The funeral services will be from his late residence at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Ruhlman officiating. Interment in the Brown Chapel Cemetery by C. E. Hill, Williamsport funeral director.

Native of Vinton Co. Succumbs At Home, 301 E. Main St; Ill Two Weeks

       Mrs. Melissa L. Jones, 74, died at her residence, 301 E. Main-St. Sunday at 5 p.m. after an illness of two weeks.
       She was the daughter of Henry and Julia Shuster, born in Vinton County, July 04, 1856, and was united in marriage to Milton Evans Jones, Jan. 12, 1880. To this union were six children. The following survive, Mrs. Nellie C. Smith of Columbus, Finlay of this city; Cary of Ironton, Clark of Fremont and Russell, of this city and seven grandchildren and one brother and two sisters.
       The husband preceded her in death June 28, 1930 and one daughter Valeria Huddle in 1921. She was a member of the Christian Church at Clarksburg for many years and of late had been an attendant at the U. B. Church here.
       Funeral services will be from the U. B. Church Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. by Rev. W. F. Rutherford and interment in the Brown Chapel Cemetery by C. E. Hill.
       The body can be view at the home of Finlay Jones on E. Mound St. Monday evening and until the hour of funeral.
