MALINDA MADDEN, daughter of MINUS and SUSANNE (BRADY) REYNOLDS was born November l2, l839, near Circleville, Ohio, and died April ll, l9l9, aged 79 years, 4 months and 29 days.
She came to Illinois with her parents when twelve years of age and located ner Argenta, Illinois where on March 27, l859, she was united in marriage to J.N. MADDEN who preced her in death, February 20, l9l8. To this union were born two daughters, SEPHRONIA E. PAINTER, of Leon, Iowa, the other dying in infancy.
After her marriage she continued to reside in and near Argenta, Illinois, until l896, when she came with her husband to reside on a farm north of Leon, until February, l9l3, when they located in Leon, where she lived until the time of her death.
When a young woman, she was converted and united with the M.E. Church remaining a member of that faith until her death. She leaves one daughter, MRS. S.E. PAINTER, who since her husband's death, has lived with her and cared for her until the time of her death. She is also survived by five grandsons, two granddaughters, four great granddaughters, two sisters, MRS. MIRANDA HESTER, of Smith Center, Kansas; MRS. MARTHA BOWZER, of LaJunta, Colorado; two brothers, JAS. REYNOLDS, Elmdale, Kansas; GEORGE REYNOLDS, Argenta, Illinois; one half-brother, FRANK REYNOLDS, Argenta, Illinois; one half-sister, MRS. OLIVE KILE, Decatur, Illinois; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April l3th, Rev. Henry Esch was in charge of the services and burial followed in the Leon Cemetery.
