Here is the obit for a descendant of the Patrick Augustine GORDON and Sarah Catherine FORQUER line through their son, John Wilfred GORDON and wife Elizabeth McGREEVY. Would be glad to share data w any GORDON researcher on this and other GORDON lines.
Obituary published in the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch on Saturday, January 13, 1996, on page 6B:
"Margaret Mary Gordon Hughes, age 86, Friday at the family home. Mrs. Hughes was born in Columbus on December 26, 1909, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (McGrevey) Gordon. She was a graduate of both St. Mary of the Springs High School and College and was a founding member of St. Christopher Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. J. J. Hughes in 1969, grandson Patrick McGowan Hughes, 1 sister and 3 brothers. She is survived by daughter, Maureen (Denis) Murphy of Columbus; sons, James J. (Beverly) and George G. (Susan) Hughes of Columbus, Michael G. (Mary Carter) Hughes of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren, Julie (Patrick) Gibson, James (Kathleen) Hughes III, Amy, Terri and Michele Hughes, Margaret Murphy, Dennis (Cameron) Murphy Jr., Joseph and Jonathan Murphy, Sarah Hughes and George Hughes Jr., Michael Hughes Jr., Ryan Hughes and Conor Hughes; great-granddaughters, Kate, Amy and Bethany Gibson, Rachael and Reilly Hughes; sisters-in-law, Alice Ryan Gordon of Elgin, Ill and Dorothy Altman Gordon of Columbus; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Monday 3-5 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. Broad St. Family will also receive friends Monday 6-7 p.m. at St. Christopher Church, 1420 Grandview Ave. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 7 p.m. Private family burial St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends who wish may contribute in her memory to Mt. Carmel Hospice, 1144 Dublin Rd., Columbus, Oh 43215."
