I am hoping someone has a link somewhere :)
Daniel S. NOFFSINGER, who commonly went by his initials only ("D.S. Noffsinger) was...
LOCATION: prior to 1880 unknown
LOCATION: 1880 Latty Twp., Paulding Co., OH census:
NOFFSINGER, D. 32y grocer b Ohio (head of household)
", Betty 17y sister b OH
", Elmer 13y bro b OH
", Samuel 10y bro b OH
", Morris 8y bro b OH
LOCATION: May 1881 - married Mary "Polly" Pauline SWICK, Paulding Co., OH
LOCATION: Sep 1891 - elected clerk of courts in Grover Hill, Paulding Co., OH
Location 1900 - unknown. His wife is listed in Madison Twp., Pldg Co., as head of household, married 19y.
In the 1880 census info, shown above, his 'siblings' are much younger than him -- the oldest being 19 years age difference.
According to the "HISTORY OF THE NAFZGER FAMILY IN AMERICA", Glea Richer Brown, p 33, a Samuel and Mary (BRECKNER) NOFFSINGER had these children:
and then simply states, "This family has become widely scattered and no accurate data has been available.". Note the similarity of Samuel's listed children in the Richer book, and Daniel's siblings in the 1880 census. Although no Olive is listed in the 1880 census with him, Daniel named one of his own children "Flora Olive".
Richer states on p 33 that Samuel was b in Randolph Co., IN, though no dates are given. On p 27, when Samuel is listed as a child of John NOFFSINGER Jr and Elizabeth SIMMONS, it states that all of John and Eliz. children were b in either Montgomery or Miami Co's., OH and that about 1835 the family moved into Randolph Co., IN.
No death info or cemetery listing has been found for Daniel Noffsinger, so I have no idea his age except for the estimation found in the 1880 census.
If ANYone is researching the NOFFSINGER name in Paulding co., please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If anyone descends from Samuel and Mary (BRECKNER) NOFFSINGER, please email me as I'd like to find out of more on that family to see if my Daniel S. is indeed a son.
