Here is some interesting information which I have also posted elsewhere in this forum:
From Ohio Cross Roads of our Nation, Quarterly Magazine of the Ohio Genealogy Society, Mansfield OH; Vol. 15 No. 3, 1974, Paulding County, Ohio Pioneer Families. Jackson Township:
the first actual settlers here were John and William Moss, two brothers from England who settled in Section 26 in 1826. In 1826 came Jesse Fox and EDMUND BARKER. later came Edward McQuestion, DELIVERANCE BROWN, John Anderson, Abram Bennett, Jacob Myers, JOTHAM ROLLINS, JOHN LOAR, WILLIAM HAYS and HENRY BARCHUS. The township was organized in 1851. Prior to this it was attached to Brown Township. The first election was held at the home of Edward McQuestion in 1851. The voters were DELIVERANCE BROWN, John Anderson, William Moss, William Stillwell, David Barnhill, William Hoover, EDMUND BARKER, Robert Barnhill, Joseph Reed, Sr, and JOHN BARKER. First white child born in the township was George Moss, son of John Moss. He married Anna Stair and later went to Pawnee County, Nebraska, The first marriage was that of Edward McQuestion and JANE BARKER. The first United Brethren Church was organized in 1850 and the first members were DELIVERANCE and JULIA BROWN; John and Rebecca Anderson; JOSEPH and MARY CROSBY; Ward Dart; Mrs. Anna Dart, MRS. H.
