I tried this government land office records website -
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ and found no Robert Guthrie (Guthry, Guthree) listed in any county or for any purchase.

There were 4 Guthrie entries for Coshocton County, though. Joseph, a soldier in the late army of the US bought 100 acres on 28 Apr 1802 (Lot 21, 2nd Qtr of 6th Twp and 6th Range.

Thomas, of Washington County, OHIO, bought on 10 Feb 1831 80 acres (W 1/2 of NE Qtr, Sec 15, Twp 7, Range 6; presumbably the same Thomas (but this time of Washington County PENNSYLVANIA) bought on 2 Apr 1832 80 nearby acres (E 1/2, NE Qtr, Sec 15, T&, R6).

And during the time frame you inquired about, probably the same Thomas now of Cochocton County bought on 5 Aug 1837 land that would tie his holdings togther - NW Qtr, Sec 15, T7, R6 - 44 54/100 acres. All of these were unappropriated lands in the Military District.

Robert is listed in 1840 census as Guthry in Coshocton County, Clark Twp; in 1850 appears to be Guthier.

Best source may be Coshocton County Recorder's Office which should have all deeds for Robert whether he bought or sold.
