Joan, try the Dayton Public Library at http://www.dayton.lib.oh.us/genealogy/index.html this should give you a listing of old newspapers on micro film. There is the DAYTONER VOLKS ZEITUNG, 1876-1914, the GEDENK BLAETTER, 1894-1912, and the GROSS DAYTON ZEITUNG, 1914-1947. I believe you can get these through an inter-loan library system. With a german dictionary you should be able to understand most of the obit. information.
