Hello. I am trying to sort through a family of Barnetts and would appreciate comparing notes with anyone interested.
This notice publishes on April 1, 1837, in the Democratic Herald of Dayton, Ohio, is my core documentation so far:
CHANCERY COURT - JAMES BARNETT of Fort Wayne, Ind.; WILLIAM WATTON and RACHEL WATTON his wife, formerly RACHEL BARNETT of Fayette Co., Ind.; the heirs of ELIZABETH HARRIS, deceased, wife of GEORGE HARRIS, deceased, formerly ELIZABETH HARRIS, deceased, formerly ELIZABETH BARNETT - RACHEL HARRIS of Indiana, JAMES B. HARRIS and HARRIET HARRIS of Montgomery County, Ohio. DAVID H. HARRIS of Alabama and the heir unknown of ALICE CONKLIN, deceased late ALICE HARRIS and wife of BENJAMIN CONKLIN of Indiana; and the heirs of MARY HUSTON, deceased, formerly MARY BARNETT and the wife of DAVID HUSTON – ABRAHAM HUSTON of Hamilton County, Ohio, ISRAEL HUSTON of Montgomery County, DAVID HUSTON, PAUL HUSTON and LUTHER HUSTON of Greene County - LUTHER BRUEN, administrator of estate of ABRAHAM BARNETT, deceased.
I descend from Mary Barnett who married David Huston through their son, Paul.
I suppose the James Barnett of Fort Wayne is the same as the James Barnett who was an early settler of that town who married Nancy Hanna.
An Abraham Barnett, probably the deceased, was a Justice of the Peace in Dayton as late as May, 1835 http://files.usgwarchives.org/oh/montgomery/deeds/sheppard41gdd.txt
This record also shows a connection to the estate administrator, Luther Bruen, This Luther I expect as the father or brother of the “D.H. Bruen” (David H Bruen) noted in the Recorder’s Office document.

Interestingly, according to this history, Luther Bruen Sr. married a Barnett; Luther Jr. was their son. It is not at all clear to me how (or if) the Barnetts who were kin to the Bruens fit in with my Barnetts of the 1837 estate notice.
The “Bruen’s Barnetts” are:
Susan Barnett who on June 4, 1810 married Luther Bruen Sr., and her parents, John and Elizabeth Barnett, who lived near Miller's Ford, south of Dayton, according to Pioneer Life in Dayton and Vicinity: 1796-1840, by John F. Edgar, copyright 1896.
