Dayton directories start about 1856.... i looked every year or so up until about 1878... there are only one or two Hicks per volume... many didn't list any at all.... nobody named Henry.... only thing that looked close was this one...
1877-78 Hicks, Caroline I., 438 Wayne avenue
Hicks, Thomas C. ,438 Wayne avenue, between Cass and Fifth....
that's just around the corner from work.... i'll have to remember and look and see what's there... thinking it's a photo studio from the 1960's or 70's....
