In 1930 Flora may have been an inmate in the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home in Xenia, Greene, OH:
inmate, Flora B. KNOX, 9, WV OH OH

A KNOX, Edward S, d. 06/19/1947, US Army, PVT, Res: Dayton, OH, is buried in the National Military Cemetery, Dayton, in plot 6 2 36, buried 06/23/1947.

If you believe this is your Edwin/Edward, check the Dayton Metro Library, on how to get a copy of his obit. Flora should have been married by 1947.
