I notice you are still looking for information on your ancestor - Jane Mills who married James Johnson in Montgomery County, OH. Have you found anything new on your Jane??
I too, am still looking for the parents and siblings of my gr gr gr grandmother Abigail Mills, who married John Driver on 01-Sept-1825 in Montgomery Co., OH. Montgomery Co., OH is a hard place to find early 1800 info in.
I am trying to find information on a Joseph Mills possibly born 1774, who's known wife was a Jane Stoten, that were living in Montgomery County, OH in 1816 when this Joseph Mills's daughter, Martha Mills - b: 11-Jan-1800, married a Frazy Doty on 16-Oct-1816 in Montgomery Co., OH.
I am finding bits of information on this Martha Mills that fits in with information I have on my Abigail Mills and your Jane Mills. There is proof of a brother of Martha named Elisha Mills. I also believe my Abigail had a brother named Elisha who lived close by Abigail after they moved to Henry County, Indiana (as did your Jane) and then after Abigail's death from Cholera in 1835, this brother Elisha Mills and family moved on to the Farmland area of Randolph Co., IN. In 1890, a Sullivan Co., MO newspaper article on Martha (Mills) Doty says," while on a trip to visit her children living in Ithaca, Darke Co., OH - Martha (Mills) Doty - age 90, also visited her old brother, Elisha Mills, in Farmland, Randolph Co., Indiana."
I think it is very possible that the Joseph Mills (the father attributed to Martha (Mills) Doty by Doty researchers) is also the father of my Abigail and your Jane. This Joseph Mills possibly had been married twice and I don't know which wife Jane Stoten was, 1st or 2nd.
Please contact me to compare info. Thanks !
