Dear Robin:Hello.How are you?
Forgetting the "play" on words, etc., as to "Sr", "Jr", etc., or even "III", or "IV", and such, because that sometimes leads to problems, here may be your answer.
1. Jacob "Rodehamel" (your spelling), born 17 Feb 1823, was the son of Jacob Rhodehamel Jr (6 Sept 1789 - 18 Feb 1853)and Catherine Elizabeth McAfee (20 Jan 1791 - 25 Nov 1831), and the grandson of Jakob Rothhomel Sr (1759/60 - 5 Jan 1835) and Anna Maria Muller (1761 - 1 Dec 1851).
2. Thus, "your" Jacob Rodehamel Jr, born 1823, was a "III" for about 12 years while grandpa still alive; and then became a junior. He "left" the Jr for a short time, about 10 years, between his fathers death and his own, as he would be a Sr.
3. This Jacob Rodehamel (III/Jr/Sr),1823-1864, married Mary Jane Houser 6 Nov 1845 Shelby Co Ohio. He, of course, died in the Civil War, leaving a widow and eight children.
4. Oh yes, he was the brother of my Great Great Grandmother.
Hope this helps.Take care.Dick
