Hi Joan, I have also been curious if there was a German organization in the Dayton area, that might be able to help me with my Peter Heck family. They came from Trier, Prussia, in the 1850's, and they settled in south Dayton, OH. I know that there was a German newspaper for the German Community and obits were regularly printed for American/German citizens. I was able to access some of these obits through the Dayton Public Library, but they are written in "German".
Let me know if you find any other organization that can help us learn more about our German ancestors in that area.
Best regards & Happy New Year Rick Manning
