Hi again Pat,

Well, Darke Co., OH was formed in 1809. That is six years after both Butler Co and Montgomery Co. were formed.

I have always thought that the two Joseph Mills's found in Lemon Twp of Butler Co. in 1807 were more likely connected to Elijah Mills -b:1757 in Maryland - but that is maybe wrong thinking on my part.
Right now - I only have one possitive bit of research info as far as an older Joseph Mills is concerned, and that is the Joseph Mills -b: 1751 that died in the area of Knightstown, Wayne Twp., Henry Co., IN in 1835 and is recorded as buried in the Pioneer Baptist Cemetery there. This is the same exact area where my John and Abigail (MIlls) Driver died of Cholera - also in 1835. This Joseph Mills could have been my Abigail's father or even her grandfather. I cannot find the two Joseph Mills's of the 1820 census record anywhere else - in 1830 or 1840.
Do you any Joseph Mills's that could be the two in Butler Co in 1807 or both Butler and Montg. in 1820??

Where should I look for info on your Elias Mills and Chloe Stites? Maybe Martha Stiles is really a Martha Stites. What do you think of that idea??

I have a suspicion that a Joseph Mills was possibly married to a Martha Stoughton / Stoten instead of a Jane Stoten. I just can't find the recorded proof I need on that - anywhere.

Judy - MN
