I have a Mary HOWELL, born 9 Jul 1799 near Wheeling, Ohio Co. (W)VA, who married Bazel SMITH on 24 Apr 1820 in Monroe Co. OH. The wedding was performed by John HOWELL, J.P.
Mary's parents are unknown, but it appears she could be the daughter of one of your HOWELLs. Wheeling (formerly Fort Henry) could be their place of origin.

Bazel and Mary first settled in Salem (now Switzerland) Township in the northern part of Monroe County, which had been part of Belmont County.

Bazel and Mary Howell SMITH had 12 children, in this order:

Eliza SMITH......m. Aaron CRONIN
Andrew SMITH.....m. Julian Ann FORSHEY
John SMITH.......m. Mary POLEN
Riley SMITH......m. Sarah CONGER
Sarah SMITH......m. Benjamin BLAZER
Aaron SMITH......m. Rachel POLEN (my line)
Bazel Smith......m. Eliza Jane CONGER
Mary SMITH.......m. Stephen Jackson CONGER
Rachel SMITH.....m. Elias Darby CONGER
Zachariah SMITH..m. Sarah DAUGHERTY
Rebecca SMITH....m. Wm. S. DYER, Thomas MEAD, Balser BOTT
David SMITH......m. Juliette CONGER

The CONGER spouses were all siblings, as were the two Polen wives.

Betsy
