My maternal great grandfather Mortimer Buskirk was married three times. All three marriages likely took place in Monroe County, O., or the couples lived there during their marriages.
He first married Margaret Baker on July 16, 1857. They were both born in Ohio. I don't know if both or either were residing in Monroe County at the time of their marriage, but the couple resided there from 1860 until their deaths. Margaret died in 1887 in Duffy, Monroe Co., Ohio.
Mortimer's second wife appears to be Perley W.. Her surname is unknown. They married sometime between 1887 and 1889 and had one child, my grandfather Walter. Perley died 1892 at a hospital in Athens, Athens Co., Ohio. Why she died there and not Monroe County is not known. I'd really like to find her maiden name as my grandfather said he lived with his grandmother after his mother died. As his paternal grandparents were long since deceased, he had to have lived with his maternal grandmother.
Mortimer's third wife was Ann M.. The married between 1892 and 1895. Her surname is also unknown. Mortimer and Ann moved to Benwood, Monroe Co., O. where Mortimer died in 1895. Because Mortimer was a Civil War vereran, Ann filed for a widower's pension. In her petition, she makes a reference to "Jackson, W.H." which I believe is where the couple married. I can't find a reference to Jackson, W.H., Ohio. Any ideas on this would be appreciated.
