Hi, Charles--
The reference you want is finally available--the old church records were lost for many years, but were found in an attic, and microfilmed. Much of the material is in handwritten German, though, and using the old German style of writing, so not easy to read. The LDS does have the microfilm if you want to view the originals. You can get the film number etc. by going to the LDS Family History Library catalog website and doing a search on Monroe Co. Ohio.

But if you want a good transcription, there is an excellent one out there. You can get it through the Monroe Co. Genealogical Society or a couple of other genealogy reference publishing websites. The full information is:

"Monroe County, Ohio Church Records: Nineteenth Century Records of Lewisville, Middle (St. John's) and Miltonsburg (St. Peter's) German Evangelical Protestant Churches," translated, transcribed, and compiled by Dr. Shirley A. Harmon, Closson Press, Sep 1999. 255 pages including last-name index.

Good luck!
