I posted the following query on multiple Genforum message boards and received some great information in return. I am posting the replies I received in hopes that it may help some other person in their genealogy research. Iím still trying to learn more about Edward Dawson mentioned in the query. Edward Dawson and my gggm Cynthia Ann Heddleston lived in the Jolly Township, Washington County, OH on the 1850 census. I think this area later became a part of Monroe County, OH. Thanks, happy ancestor hunting. Susie
I'm looking for information on Delia Kershaw. She is found on the census 1850 Jolly Township, Washington County, Ohio: Delia Kershaw age 40, b. England; John age 6, b. England; Joshua ge 4, b. Ohio; Delia age 1, b. Ohio and Joshua Dawson age 91, b. England.
In the census: 1860 Hamilton County, Mill Creek, Ohio. This census lists Delia Kershaw, age 50, b.in England; John age 16, b.in England; Joshua age 14 b. Ohio; Delia age 11, b. Ohio; and Eliza age 9, b. Ohio.
She is shown on the 1870 Americus Town, Lyon County, Kansas: Delia Kershaw age 60, b. England and living in the household with Charles Bowler age 26, b. Maryland; Delia A. Bowler age 21 (I assume this is daughter Delia Kershaw); Delia age hard to read but looks like 2, b. Ohio; a one-year-old male whose name is hard to read, b. Ohio.
I am hoping to link up my Dawson family research with Delia's descendents. I have some land records from the Washington County, Ohio courthouse that show Delia Kershaw, Joshua Dawson and Edward Dawson were involved in land transactions with each other. I feel that Delia and Edward were children of Joshua Dawson and hope to verify this.

From Sonia on England Genforum:
There are quite a lot of people researching the name Dawson in Yorkshire on this list. At least one mentions Elland:
Good luck, Sonia
From Lorena on the Kansas Genforum:
I just checked the Lyon County Tombstone Inscriptions that were extracted
for the entire county by the Emporia Chapter of the DAR during the years
1939 - 1953. I found no Kershaw, Bowler tombstone inscriptions anywhere in
the county. It would appear to me they moved on.
If you think they remained in Kansas, there is an 1875 state census with an
every name index. It is available on microfilm at no charge from the Kansas
State Historical Society on interlibrary loan. I would encourage you to
borrow the index first, but then be sure and check the actual census as
there is much more information given on the actual census.
Good luck in your search!
