Linda,

My mother was Ruby Jane Keith ( 1925 - 1998 ). Her father was Glenn Clifford Keith ( 1899 - 1969 ). His father was Wesley " Elmer " Keith ( 1861 - 1929 ), they lived in Noble and Guernsey County, Ohio. Wesley " Elmer " Keith's obituary indicates his father was Morton Keith, but I have been unable to obtain much in the way of documented records of Morton Keith. What I did find in Noble County, Ohio Probate and Census Records is a marriage record of a Martin Keith to a Margaret Sparrowgrove dated 1858 and another marriage record dated 1868 where a Martin Keith married a Rhoda Carnes. Since Wesley Elmer Keith was born in 1861 it leaves a question as to his biological mother.

When I checked the Census Records dated 1870 I find a Rhoda Keith along with a step son Elmer Keith living with a David Kunes Family, listed as a domestic. The 1880 Census indicated a Rhoda ( Keith ) Longfellow, she married a John Longfellow and living with her is her step son Elmer Keith. I know for a fact the Longfellow Family connection is accurate because of family records and conversations.

A Noble County, Ohio death ledger entry indicates Martin Keith died in 1869 of consumption or TB at the age of 30. I have been unable to connect Martin Keith to other Keith Families living in Olive and Jackson Twp., Noble County, Ohio. I made several trips to the hamlit of Keith or Keithtown, which is located in Jackson Township, Noble County, Ohio and went to The Keith Cemetery and recorded information on headstones, but I have be unable to determine who Martin Keith's parents were. Perhaps you have some information that would be helpful

Thank You
