Seeking John Mangin/Mangan descendants
I am seeking the names of the children (said to be 3 in number) of John Mangan and his wife Mary "Polly" Richardson.
John was b 1781 (aged 35 in 1816 - military records) in Ireland. He married Mary "Polly" Richardson 24 Jan 1814 in Miami co OH. He servied 5 years in Capt. Charles Larribee's Company, 3rd Reg. of Infantry. He was a Sargent. He enlisted 10 Dec 1814 and served 5 years. He was awarded a Double Bounty Land Warrant #851. This land was located in what was then Pulaski, Territory of AR. He also served in Ft. Wayne in 1816. He is described in those records as: 35 years old, 5'3 3/4", grey eyes, brown hair, fair complexion - a laborer born in Ireland.
We know that John and Mary "Polly" had a daughter Mary Ann Mangan, born 1817 at Ft. Wayne. Mary Ann married John J. Savage 16 Oct 1836 in Shelby co OH.
I ordered John's bounty land records from the National Archives. In the information is a slip dated 1888. It says that a "son of the soldier" had requested the number of the land warrant "to complete family records." So - John evidently had a son whose name is unknown.
John Mangan died before 9 Feb 1822 when the first application concerning his estate was filed in Shelby co OH. Snow Richardson, whom we believe to be the brother of "Polly," was the admin. of the estate.
After John's death, Polly married John McClure 18 Jan 1823. They moved to Lake Twsp, Allan co Indiana, and later came to DeKalb co MO where Polly is buried in the Hopewell Cemetery.
I have other information on this family. Are there descendants of the other children of John and Polly? I'd enjoy sharing research.
