LYON families in Miami county
My gt gt grandfather, JOHN NEWTON LYON, died in Miami county May 30 1855. His wife, JEMIMA (REDENBAUGH) LYON died July 4 1869.
Questions -
1) Where are they buried?
2) Who were John's parents?
What I know:
-John was born in 1799 (somewhere) in Ohio.
-Jemima is said to have been born in Hamilton co 1807.
-They are said to have been married in Miami co in 1826.
-Their 3rd child, Wm D Lyon says on his Civil War Pension application that he was born in Hamilton, Ohio (not sure whether he meant Hamilton, the town, or Hamilton county).
-An old family letter says that Wm Lyon was a second cousin to Matthias Lyon, who lived in 'Pickway'. This would make John and Samuel (father of Matthias) first cousins.
-The 1880 Miami co History shows that Samuel came to Cincinnati from New Jersey in 1792(but Samuel was only 12 at that time, so who did he come with?).
-Samuel's father, Matthias, is said to have come from England; family information says that John's father came from England.
So - I would appreciate any help or ideas regarding possible parents for John.
Also - any other information or clues about the Lyon families in Ohio.
Lastly - since Samuel's biography connects him to New Jersey, I am interested in information as to how his family connects to the other Lyons in Essex county, New Jersey.
Thanks for any help or clues anyone can give.
