I have made a discovery tonight. I believe that Mary M. Brown had been married prior to her marriage to my Adam. I think she was previously married to someone named Raymond so the marriage is between Adam Groves Johnston and Mary M. Raymond on Jan 13, 1883 in Summit, Ohio, USA. Too bad there is no 1890 census although some places did have an 1892 census.
I also believe my Adam was previously married to Sarah Millikin in 1869 and they had a daughter Gertrude in 1871. The marriage to Sarah was indexed as Adam Grenes Johnston but when I looked at the original image it looks like Groves to me. Gertrude married someone called Perrault and she died in 1950.
Perhaps Gertrude's marriage guessing about 1890-1895 would have Mr. Perrault's first name, as well as Gertrude's parents as further confirmation. Her death says Adam G. and Sarah Millikin. I am 90% sure of all this. Mary Brown's marriage to Mr. Raymond would help. Sarah Johnston's death would help (1871-1883). Gertrude's marriage would help.
Thanks for any help
