James Duffy was probably born circa 1827 in Donegal, Ireland. His father may have been Charles. He married Mary Ann Woodburn in Ottawa, Ontario in 1846. There is James Duffy who was married to Mary Ann Woodburn found with wife and 4 children in the 1870 Cuyahoga Falls, Summitt county, Ohio, USA census. In the 1870 census, he is 43 and a shoemaker. In the 1880 census, same place, Mary Ann (as Marian) is still married, but no James (because James is in the Cleveland census in an asylum suffering from mania (probably diabetis. By the 1900 census, he is back in Ottawa and says that he was born in Ireland in March of 1827 and aged 73 (so matches all his previous years of birth given in the censuses of 1827). Mary says she was born in July of 1832 in Ireland. Apparently, all sons, except William Knox Duffy, went back to the U.S. Mary Ann died May 29, 1912 in Cuyahoga Falls. The informant was her oldest son Isaac. I am looking for family left in IRELAND and any DUFFY ancestors.
