There is only one Snell in the 1860 census in Shelby Co., IL - he is William Snell, age 44, b. OH. The census is very difficult to read, but it appears his wife may be deceased and there are about 7 children in the home. This may be Sarah's family.

The same Snell, listed as W.H. Snell, age 53, b. OH is still in Shelby Co. in 1870, with a wife named Ann, age 34, b. Maryland, and children Mary, 18, Eliza, 17, Daniel, 14, Ephraim, 12, Cornelia, 8, Edwin, 6, Lallie, 5, Alice, 4, Anna, 2, Willie, 2 mos., and Julia Black, age 11 or 14, Andrew Black, age 8. All children born IL.

Sandra
