Thanks for your reply, Bill.I got the info from the database "Ohio, Birth Index 1908-1964."I double-checked, and I copied it exactly.
This is not for me, but for a friend, so I'm not sure how forthcoming the county office would be about releasing information to a nonrelative.I can't even be sure it's the right county.My friend was born in Columbus in Franklin County, but that can't be inferred from the state file number in the above citation.
The trouble is, my friend was adopted, and I'm hoping he can use this route to find the names of his birth parents.However, I'd hate to advise him to spend the $21.50 for a certified birth certificate, only to be told that his birth record was "sealed" on the occasion of his adoption.
Would you mind sharing which database gave you an "empty" result for STEGNER born on that date?That is a red flag, suggesting that my Stegner friend's record may be sealed or otherwise unobtainable.
