First, I can't thank you enough for the excerpts from the Huron County history book.The John Didion in the book also wrote the letter to his folks back in Germany about his immigration to the United States.Apparently the family still owns the 81.5 acre farm.
My John Didion (great-great grandfather) was the eldest son of Peter and Margret Didion.Ron Didion who started the Didion Family Forum says he has the answers to the Elisabeth Shane/Mary Shain question and can identify Margret, who is listed with the surname of Ruffi...G on the old records.
Again, thank you for your kind help.My two cousins (only three left of my generation who claim Didion kinship) will be thrilled.
